Co-hosted by ABYC and the Pacific Coast Interscholastic Sailing Association (PCISA), this is the fourth in the series of events comprising the 2010-11 racing season.
The ABYC Laser Fleet is hosting the Friday evening February 17th General Membership Meeting. A tasty buffet dinner is on the menu and after dinner, our speaker is; Mr. Scott Culver, Tugboat Captain with FOSS Maritime.
Mr. Culver will speak to us about how FOSS Maritime manages the shipping traffic in Long Beach and Los Angeles harbors. Being a sailboat owner, Mr. Culver has a unique perspective on how commercial and pleasure traffic interacts in our waters.
This presentation should prove very interesting to ABYC sailors and our guests. This membership meeting is on the eve of the 2012 SCYA Midwinter Regatta. So make plans for your crew and friends to join us for dinner and more.
The Southern California Yachting Association (SCYA) Midwinters Regatta history is packed with legendary sailors and their boats from the early days to the present. In 1928, SCYA and the LA Junior Chamber of Commerce teamed up to sponsor the first Midwinters which was promoted as an example of the sports "paradise" that Southern California offered in the winter. This is the 82nd Annual SCYA Midwinter Regatta, the longest-running regatta in Southern California. ABYC will be hosting the following classes: 505, C-15, Cal 20, CFJ, F-18, Etchells, Finn, I-420, I-14, Laser Master, Lido 14, Viper 640.
